There was a problem opening a secure connection to Google

This is a wordpress error when importing a blog, from blogger. The error will look similar to this:

Could not connect to https://www.google.com
There was a problem opening a secure connection to Google. This is what went wrong:

There is a simple for for this. Using /scripts/easyapache compile PHP with OpenSSL support. Curl+SSL was enabled on a server I saw this error with, so that is likely not needed if you don't already have it enabled.
